Wilverley Wander

Wilverley Wander

Starting at Wilverley Plain Car Park we will enter the enclosue through the gate by the BBQ area. Turning right we will follow the gravelled path parallel to the main car park through some light woodland to the enclosure plaque. Continuing straight on through ancient chestnut and oak woodland we will descend steeply to the valley floor and then immediately ascend through one of the small areas of coniferous woodland. At the top of the valley we will turn right and then exit the enclosure and turn left where we walk along the edge of Wilverly Plain enjoying views across open heathland. We will then re-enter the enclosure at the Scout Camp and begin a gradual descent through more ancient woodland before reaching the valley bottom, where we will cross the stream via a footbridge. A gradual ascent through more ancient woodland will take us out of the valley and into another area of coniferous woodland where we will see evidence of active forest operations and timber harvesting. The path fnally levels out as we re-enter more ancient woodland. One last uphill stretch gets us back to the car park.

Please note - the walk will only be cancelled if weather conditions are extreme so please dress accordingly.

Dogs welcome but must be kept on a lead to avoid disturbing the wildlife.
